How can You Access the Iris?

UM students, faculty, and staff can access our Iris photobooth in our office, located in Aber Hall, Level 2. Our office is open for Iris use from 9 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, no reservation needed. Additionally, faculty, staff, and student organizations can schedule headshot sessions for their student groups at our office, making the process as easy as it is efficient.

Though no reservations are needed, sometimes Iris will be at other locations on campus or will be reserved for a class.  Feel free to check the Iris Photo Booth Reservation Calendar to make sure it’s available at your desired time. 

Iris Quick User Guide

  1. Place the backdrop approximately 4 feet from the photo booth. 
  1. Place the stool mid-way between the photo booth and the backdrop. 
  1. Adjust the height of the stool to frame your face in the screen. 
  1. Follow the instructions on the screen to get started! 
  1. You’ll have the chance to take 3 photos, with time between each. Once these are complete, you can select one photo to edit. You should receive your photos by email to the address you entered. 

  • Play with lighting. Turn off overhead lights if you experience a halo effect or close nearby blinds/curtains if you experience glare.  
  • Play with the on-screen editing tools like teeth whitening and blemish removal. Add filters. Have fun! 
  • Upload your Iris headshot photo as your LinkedIn and Handshake profile pictures for a polished and professional presentation.
