* Only students who have filed their graduation application for the appropriate term will have access to the survey. If you believe you should be eligible and the link doesn’t take you directly to the survey, log into Handshake; click Career center on the left menu; then click on the First Destination tile to complete the survey. If you still cannot access the survey, please email elcs@umontana.edu and include your 790#, name and graduation term so we can troubleshoot.
Frequently Asked Questions
Each semester, this survey helps UM gather information about the future plans of our graduates. This data helps us to more accurately inform current students, new alumni, prospective students and their families about possible career opportunities. It also helps UM make informed decisions about academic programs and about relationships to cultivate for future internship and employment opportunities for students.
The UM Graduation Survey (First Destination Survey) meets guidelines of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and allows for standardized reporting of undergraduate and graduate recipients’ plans immediately after graduation. Find out more about the First Destination Survey.
If you are graduating this semester (and have completed your graduation paperwork), the UM Graduation Survey will be available for you to complete in Handshake for 5 months beyond graduation. Graduating seniors will receive an email 5 weeks prior to commencement to complete the survey. You will also receive periodic reminder emails until the survey closes about 5 months after graduation. We understand your plans may change and we encourage you to update your survey responses at these times. We appreciate your time and willingness to complete this survey.
If you meet the eligibility requirements detailed in “Who should complete the Graduation Survey?” double check that you are clicking on the button for the appropriate graduation term (there are usually two live buttons – each for a different term).
Eligible students/alumni can also access the survey by logging into Handshake > click Career center on the left menu > click on the First Destination tile.
