Handshake
Welcome to Handshake!
Handshake is the official recruiting platform at the University of Montana where students can engage with hiring employers and job opportunities. All UM students are provided with a free Handshake account providing easy access to find work-study, full-time, part-time, and on-campus jobs, internships, and volunteer opportunities.
To login as a current student or recent alumni (within 2 years post graduation) go to the Handshake login and click on the “NetID Login” button. Login using your standard NetID and password.
Handshake Tips and Tricks
- Orient yourself to Handshake, using this Getting Started Guide.
- Build your profile: Completing your profile allows Handshake to better understand your interests and tailor your feed to show you personalized job recommendations! Employers are also more likely to proactively reach out to you with job opportunities and event invitations if your profile is complete.
- Search for jobs or internships: With thousands of employers posting jobs on the platform, Handshake is a powerful tool for your internship and job search needs! Taking time to understand Handshake’s search functionality will help you identify the best jobs for you. Try filtering for UM Collections to discover top internships, jobs, and employers.
- Update your Career Interests section of your profile regularly for more personalized job recommendations tailored to you.
- Attend events and Career Fairs: You can use Handshake to explore and register for Career Fairs and other career-related events on campus.
- Peer messaging in Handshake: Handshake offers the ability to message other students and alumni on the platform! This feature is aimed at giving you an even greater ability to connect with and learn from your peers.
- Find your UM NetID.
