ElevateU is your guide to career success after college. It encompasses all of the resources and opportunities UM offers to ensure you are well-prepared for your future. Seamlessly integrated into your UM experience, ElevateU, makes it so you are not just a bystander in your career journey but an active participant. This process is woven into your coursework here at UM as well as into other experiential learning opportunities such as student employment, study abroad, service projects, or scoring an internship. ElevateU is your personalized toolkit, to utilize at your convenience, guaranteeing that you are well-prepared, not just academically, but with the practical skills and experiences necessary for a successful transition into your chosen career.
ElevateU is a campus-wide initiative administered by Experiential Learning and Career Success, made possible through the generous support of donors, administrators, faculty, and staff.
How can ElevateU Guide Me On My Career Journey?
ElevateU guides you in providing resources to help you Explore your interests, the opportunities to Enhance your skillset, and the preparation to Embark on your future career. Each of these components encompasses a variety of resources and opportunities for you to become career-ready, but you don’t have to follow each one in order. You can also engage in different parts at different times to fit your needs; you can even revisit certain parts of the program. The goal is for you to acquire lifelong professional development skills.

How can ElevateU guide you through this step:
- Take one of our career assessments (at the bottom of the page) to explore potential careers to gain insight into your interests, values, and skills
- Take the Strong Assessment and meet with one of our amazing career coaches to go over the results
- Login to Handshake (UM national job platform) and explore current job offerings
- Meet with a Career Coach to discuss potential academic pathways and possible careers

- Visit What can you do with your major? to see what career pathways align with your major/studies
- Take electives and/or a career readiness class to investigate your interests
- Join a student club
- View career paths of Griz Alums with your degree on LinkedIn and the Griz Career Network. You can even filter by major
- Complete an informational interview (career conversation) and/or job shadow

- Assess and reflect on your values by taking a Values assessment

- Participate in the Griz Career Skills Program to develop to top career skills that are in the highest demand among employers
- Make an appointment with a career advisor to elevate your application (resume/cover letter review, interviewing skills, networking, LinkedIn, etc.).
- Complete your courses at UM (ElevateU career development skills are integrated into UM curriculum.)
Experience More:
- Join a Student Club
- Take electives and/or a career readiness class to gain relevant professional skills.
- Complete and informational interview or job shadow.
- Cultivate leadership skills by taking on more responsibilities in clubs and projects
- Participate in a service project
- Participate in a study abroad program or volunteer/work internationally
- Visit the Office of Undergraduate Research to connect with world-class research and creative faculty mentors – no matter your field of study or interests
