The Big Event

At the University of Montana, service isn’t just something we do – it’s who we are. Proudly named the #1 school in the nation for Community and Public Service for three years running, UM continues to lead with purpose, connection, and heart.

Each year begins with the Big Sky Experience, where new Grizzlies dive into service and community engagement during our week of welcome. As the year comes full circle, The Big Event invites those same students, alongside their peers, faculty, staff, and community partners, to come together once again in service, reflection, and celebration.

This campus-wide day of service marks more than the end of a school year. It’s a celebration of persistence, growth, and the shared commitment that defines our UM community. By first serving our community and then celebrating together on the Oval, we honor every student’s first-year journey and reaffirm our belief that when Grizzlies serve together, we stay together.

Join the UM Advocates in giving back to our campus community on Saturday, April 25, 2026! First we serve, and then we celebrate!

Service projects run from roughly 2:00 – 4:30PM, and will be followed by an evening of music, games, and fun from 5:00 – 10:30PM.

Serve. Celebrate. Stay Grizzly.
